How can I play a song I downloaded from iTunes in Windows Media Player?

Basically, how do I convert a protected file to a nonprotected .mp3 or .wma or similar format, keeping song info (i.e. title, artist, album cover) intact? Is there a free program out there that does it?

Rip an audio CD of the music (limit about 1 album per CD) Than import it with windows media player.
