I tried to download songs, but nothing happens, is this because we have to have a credit card to purchase songs? isn't there any free song download anywhere?

You can try limewire.com, but please take note that those site are illegal and those free site are usually contains virus and it will just crash your system.
it is really up to you if you chose to do so.
You can also register at itunes.com and pay approx. $1 per song, $5 and above for movie.
