Song Downloads?

Do you know any websites that are legal and free that I can get music from? I don't have money to pay for the songs. I also want to get other songs and I don't want to buy the CD's. I also want it to be legal because I don't break the law.

Song Downloads?
Spiral frog is pretty good

it has mostly all the artist

but some songs you cant download
Reply:If it's free, it's not legal. You can get places like eMusic that offer you so many free downloads when you sign up, but after that you start paying. Sorry there's no nice simple answer - if there was a legal way to get free music everyone would know about it by now!

ETA Limewire is P2P, and therefore not legal. The other legal thing you can try is surfing the bands' websites, as some peeps offer a free download of a track if they're still small and trying to get noticed. Some sites will let you stream, but I'm not sure how legal they all are.
Reply:Well, there are a multitude of ways of doing this.

www.mp3raid.com

You can also try going on youtube, typing in the name of the song, followed by the word "download" in the search box. This works best for popular songs.

or my persoanl favorite,

go to google and in the search engine type:

intitle:"index.of" (mp3) name.of.song

and then hit search

When typing in the name of song, make sure to put periods instead of spaces

This will bring up a bunch of websites that have the songs avaliable for downloading. Once you click on the website, find the song title, right click, and hit "Save Target As."

It should work.

Hopefully, that helped.
Reply:OK. Limewire is a LEGAL program to HAVE on your computer. It's not illegal to have it, as long as you use it fr what it was intended for- sharing music you and your friends have made with each other. If it's not copyrighted, its legal.

Some older songs are no longer copyrighted, and they are legal to download for free.

But there's no way to LEGALLY download music for free, if its copyrighted.

Playlist.com lets you listen to music for free, but you cant download. You can get Mp3mymp3 and record what you hear, but that defeats the purpose and it would be easier to just get it through limewire.
Reply:I know a great one. It's called Jamendo (http://www.jamendo.com), and it IS free AND completely legal. Go give it a try!

For those mentioning LimeWire: "As with all file-sharing programs, using LimeWire to download or upload copyrighted files without permission from the authors is generally illegal. Using it to distribute files with permission from the authors, or files that are out of copyright, is generally legal." quote from Wikipedia. So take care.
Reply:LimeWire is the best solution. Or BearShare is pretty good. They are all free, but watch out for some of songs with bad quality.

However, this way is totally illegal!

The only legal way to download songs is to purchase them. I suggest iTunes. Single songs are pretty well priced for your budget.
Reply:You can download videos from YOUTUBE using

www.downloadyoutubevideos.com

which will give you a .flv video. Then, go to

www.media-convert.com and convert the video from .flv to .mp3 or whatever other music format you want!!
Reply:You can download songs at http://www.woonz.com, and it's good because you get to listen to the song before you download it so you know if it's the right one.
Reply:www.limewire.com no spyware/adware
Reply:She said legal.

The only way to get the songs legally is to purchase them through something such as itunes.
Reply:Limewire! :]
Reply:Limewire Baby! woohooo!!!
Reply:what about it.?????????????????????????????????????...
