If you downloaded a song that contained a virus to your mp3 could it kill your mp3?

I downloaded a song to my computer then to my mp3 and nothing happened to my computer but my mp3 wouldn't work! If my mp3 is broken it's a good thing my aunt got me an ipod for X-mas!

If you downloaded a song that contained a virus to your mp3 could it kill your mp3?
Well, it probably was not the virus, it was probably a bad mp3 player. Virus's can't usually attack a mp3 player because there is no operating system to destroy. If it was a Zune or an a expensive one like an archos, then maybe. If the mp3 player costed less than $150, it probably wasnt the mp3 player.
Reply:I dont know 4 sure but, i downloaded some music off of limewire.com and the band everytime i played there songs my ipod would freeze only on that ARTIST. but i could have been from all those times i dropped it on the ground%26lt;%26lt; hehe

From my experience with pc's i dont think its possible%26lt; but anything can happen!
Reply:format it or reset it(whichever is the option)
Reply:mp3s dont die they just stop functioning
Reply:Yeah, it can freeze it up just like your cpu
Reply:no mp3s cant get viruses. mabe something went haywire. and if it was a virus on your mp3 than it would go on your computer. so no something just probably went wrong and you should take it to the store you bought it at and ask them about it
Reply:it's very possible. mp3 players/ipods are computers too...they can become corrupt from viruses just like any computer can. I'd do a virus scan on your computer before you hook your iPod to it.
Reply:um... yes. just the same way it could kill ur cpu.
