How do you know if a song you are downloading has a virus?

While downloading a song Limewire sent a pop up saying that it detected the file as corrupt. Asked me if I still wanted to download it anyway. I clicked no and deleted it. Just wondering if this meant it had a virus. If the music file contains a virus in it would it still play?

Legal, paid-for downloads of music are very rarely infected with malware. It's only when you start using stuff like Limewire to pull down illegal copies that you get hit with stuff like that - mostly because "illegal downloads" is a *really* good place for crooks to go and sneak adware, spyware, viruses, and so on onto your computer.

For anybody to rat them out, they'd have to admit to the cops that they were doing an illegal download.
Reply:if u play it then that could execute the virus. always scan files with your antivirus program PRIOR to playing them. you can definately get a virus that way.
Reply:If the file had a virus, would you want it to play? I wouldnt want to take a risk!
